Manchester United are facing the drastic prospect of having to close an entire stand due to a lack of interest in tickets for their Europa League clash with FC Midtjylland on February 25.

Louis van Gaal’s struggling side dropped down to the competition after finishing third in their Champions League group and face a two-legged tie with the little-known Danish side.

Clearly, United fans are less than excited by the fixture, with so few purchasing tickets that the club are planning to close the 26,000 capacity Sir Alex Ferguson Stand for the tie.

The club faced similarly low interest in 2012 when they played Ajax and Athletic Bilbao in Europe’s second-tier competition.
